Stump Grinding done properly
We grind stumps of every size, from a single palm stump in a courtyard to a paddock full of old gums on a rural block. The grinder chews the stump and the main surface roots into fine mulch, taking it down below ground level so the area can be levelled and returned to lawn or garden.
Our grinders suit both open and tight access. If the stump is behind a side gate or up a set of stairs, let us know when you call and we will bring the right machine.
You choose what happens with the grindings. Many clients keep them as mulch for garden beds; otherwise we backfill with soil or take the lot away.

How deep do you grind stumps?
Standard grinding goes below ground level so you can turf or plant over the top. If you are building, paving or need deeper removal, tell us when you book and we will grind to suit.
Will the stump grow back?
Most trees will not regrow once the stump is ground out. A few species can throw suckers from remaining roots, and we will let you know if your tree is one of them.
Can you grind a stump without removing the tree first?
We grind stumps left by other contractors, by storms or by owners all the time. Send a photo or book a free quote.
I called Ability this morning to see if I could get a quote on the removal of two smallish trees and a palm tree. They came within half an hour, and were able to do the job straight away. 20 minutes later they were finished, and they removed all evidence of them having been there. Tidy, professional and prompt.
